TRAUMA & PTSD
Trauma and PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) are related psychological conditions often triggered by experiencing or witnessing a deeply distressing or traumatic event.
Symptoms of Trauma & PTSD
Trauma refers to the emotional response someone has to a deeply distressing or disturbing event. Trauma can be caused by various experiences such as physical or sexual assault, natural disasters, accidents, war, or witnessing violence. It overwhelms a person's ability to cope, leaving them feeling helpless, frightened, and emotionally distressed. Trauma can have long-lasting effects on a person's mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
(Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder): PTSD is a specific type of anxiety disorder that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Symptoms of PTSD can include intrusive memories (flashbacks), nightmares, severe emotional distress when reminded of the trauma, avoidance of places or situations that trigger memories of the event, negative changes in beliefs and feelings, and heightened arousal (such as difficulty sleeping or concentrating).
